By these issues of privacy and piracy it is essential that we need to become informed consumer. If we remain ignorant of what is happening, you could lose your privacy, our identity, and perhaps be arrested.

The public continually complains that there is too much violence in the media, especially television. The public, however underperceives the degree if violence because their perceptions are limited. Moreover, public has also a low perspective on harm of exposure to media violence. By becoming media literate with the issue of media violence requires that people think more broadly about the effects and understand the full range of the risk to themselves and other people.

Media Influence on Sports

There is a great help of media in sports in terms of financial, and even make the players famous in their filled. However, there is also a negative part on this, there is fall on the term automaticity, that means that we are being carried by the flow f media, and this leads us not to think anymore on what we need. What should be the solution on this? It is moderation. We need to think more and more, in terms of what is supposed to be. We need to be media literate to have better understanding on what media messages.

This chapter helps us make an assessment of our awareness about our own knowledge structure. Being media literate means consciously processing the information in all messages as well as being able to recognize useless information and screening it out, then keeping the useful information and building a strong knowledge structure. This requires searching out multiple sources of information, determining the relative credibility of the different sources, and evaluating the variety of claims.

The media changed institutions, especially television over past four decades. These institutions affect us. The media, especially television, have influenced these changes. Bu we must we must be careful not to think that they are only the influence. The media are important player in all this because they transmit information about change so quickly and broadly. It is then that those who are media literate can have an influence on the direction of that change—at least for themselves.

In the chapter, it seems that it is the media only who can put our blame on the death of the boy. Who is to blame? It relies on our judgment. We can blame the media, we can also blame, the parents, and we can also blame the producers, but then it is not right that we only blame one. The key here is to recognize multiple influences and not allow any one of the influences to absolve simply because it was not the only influence. The effects process is a complex one. That is why it needs a higher media literacy to appreciate the situation.

Broadening our Perspective on Media Effects

We must not get trapped of thinking media only affect others, such as young children, who don’t know any better but also we are included. We lived in a media saturated environment, and the effects are constantly happening to us as they shape our knowledge patterns, attitudes, emotions and behaviors. They are even trigger psychological reactions. From this dilemma should look for a key to have a better understanding but he only key is to step in increasing our media literacy is to expand our perspective about what is a media effect/s.

As what was discussed in the first chapter and some previous of the chapters, it has been said that media are very busy of looking and understanding what is the needs and interest of the people. Hence, this chapter aim is to remind us to be careful because by being careful we can see that media is guided on our needs and wants or maybe interest. Moreover, if we are careful by searching for those messages that best satisfy our needs then we are using the media effectively. On the contrary, if we are not aware and do not these things then chances are that media will be using us or you as their tool to achieve their goal.
